My grand daughter received a Baby Born doll for her birthday so I knitted a Boy & Girl Play Set for it. I used a variegated for the top and a plain colour for the panties. She loved it I have also got some other doll knitting patterns so they will have some sweet outfits coming there way!

Started knitting this Lace shawl in November on a K.A.L. and finished it last night. Blocked it overnight and I am so pleased with the way it turned out, I used Lincraft Splendour Yarn in Autumn tones and used just a tad over 3 x 50gr balls of yarn!

My D.D. saw a bag in one of the shops and remarked that she liked it so I said that I could crochet her one. Well this is the finished bag and it is also a bit bigger than the one in the shop. I love how the bright colours went together, The pattern for the bag is in Attic24 just google it in and the site should come up! Well I am back from the U.S.A and had a wonderful time saw a pod of dolphins at Virginia Beach we had a room om the beach front. Did a lot of walking also did a lot of shopping. These are the Baby Jacquards that I bought they are really lovely and I also bought Caron Simply Soft in Tapestry and Baby Ombre. This is just a peep of what I have bought I will put in more eye candy over the next few days.

Have been knitting these cute little Bean Bugs by Jean Greenhowe they sit by your computer to keep you company! The snowman is also a pattern by her and I cant remember where I found the Elf! These little guys were a treat and fun to knit. So the grandkids will be getting one each, I reckon they will be more popular with the girls!

So here is my second knitted lace doily I had to finish the edging off in a different colour, as I ran out of the ecru. But I think it turned out quite well, the pattern is called Julie by Sonja Esbensen from her book Knitted Lace in White.

I wanted try some lace knitting so I found this easy pattern to start off with it took me a couple of days to do and I was pleased with the finished item. So I then decided to dye it green as this will be given to my mum who happens to love green. I am now ready to knit a bigger lace project may be a bigger cloth!

As it will be my mum's 80th birthday next month I thought that I would knit her a shawl I used a variegated blue in Mohair, Wool, Acrylic blend. And the best part is that I have left over yarn! Cant remember where I got the pattern and what it is called, anyway this is my very first knitted lace shawl, and I am pleased with the results.

I started this Knitted Mitered Square Blanket when my sister and mum was here in June. I am using Moda Vera 8 Ply 100% Australian Wool in a Deep Dusty Mauve a Light Dusty Mauve and a Creme as well. This will be a slow project as there are also other things to do as well. This is a really easy one to do and quite relaxing.

Made myself a hat and I just love the colour I used Moda Vera Delight in a Pink Purple Mix. It is a plain stocking knit and rib knit easy and so nice and warm. The socks are Opal Colour Pfau, and they are called Dragonfly Socks by Cavyshops.

Finished these socks a while ago they were a fun knit, I used Deborah Norville Sock Serenity Yarn in colour way Paprika. And the pattern is the Show-off Stranded Socks. The plastic duck is just there to show off, she wanted to be in the picture. I saw her in a Spotlight Store and as my favourite colour is purple I had to buy her. She sits in my craft room on top of my music player.

Five Generations and New Scarf!

So here is the new scarf that I knitted with yarn called Can Can yarn it is also called Flounce I really enjoyed knitting this as you only put on six stitches and I made it in two nights. Love the colour I also will be doing a couple more!

And my mum next to me holding her Great Great Granddaughter and Great granddaughter sitting next to her, and my daughter at the end so there are the five generations! My mum and sister went home on Friday, it was really great to have them visit and see the new additions to the family! Oh and I am also wearing my new scarf!

As you know I am interested in Weaving Rugs so I ordered this wonderful book Rugs from Rags. Well it
is very informative and even tells you how to build a weaving frame! Anyway I have started a rug using old sheets that I cut into strips, I have also improved my frame a bit as I needed to put a rod in the sides to keep my weaving even. So I will show you pictures of how I am progressing soon.

So here is my new great grand daughter her name is Kara'Lee she weighed in at 6lb5oz and 47.5cm long she is like a tiny little doll.
Both mum and baby are fine and will be going home to her mums my daughters place tomorrow for a couple of days, so there will be two babies in the house.

I entered a dishcloth swap on the Down to Earth Blog, my swap buddy was called Karen. And this is what she sent me , funny thing though we both made our swap dishcloth out of the same thread and colour. Love the earrings and the cloth will definitely be put to good use!
On a lighter note I am now a great grandma of a 6lb5oz baby girl, I will post a photo later as I will be visiting my great granddaughter tomorrow. And on a sad note our lovely dog Shiloh was put to sleep on Tuesday. She was 13 years old and really struggling towards the end we will miss her!

Finally home and so glad to be home we had a great time in N.Z the scenery was spectacular! I also got to go to where they make the Ashford Spinning Wheels great place.

Anyway there were a few packages waiting for me when we got home so I will show you one today. This one is from my little sissy in the U.S. I got a couple of Spin Off Magazines some Locking Stitch Markers which I needed a beautiful pair of Stork Scissors which came in a sweet crochet holder two dishcloths and last but not least my Berroca Metallic Sock Yarn which I totally love the colours are stunning so now I must find that special sock pattern!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So thanks little sissy I just love my gifts.

So I finally got to cuddle my new grandson he is so cute and tiny and oh so cuddly. Also saw my daughter so now I have piece of mind. Mind you yesterday was a bit much for me I am suffering for it today too much too soon. He will be in the hospital for a few more days yet until he suckles properly. Well tonight we are off to New Zealand for a week so I had better go and pack.

As promised a picture of my new grandson, These were taken a couple of days ago so I have not had the chance to nurse him yet. That will be tomorrow,so I cant wait to meet my new grand baby, he will be in the hospital for another day or so as he is not sucking too well. He was just over 7lb born and 50cm long and three weeks early due to a few problems that my daughter was having.

Dear H bought in the mail yesterday and there was this little package from Wendy A.K.A Umitsuru it really cheered me up and I received a beautifully tatted motif and a pen holder case and crochet hook I will put the hooks in the case as it is a wonderful size for it. It has little elephants on it so cute!

I haven't anything to show today as I have been ordered by the Dr to completely rest which also means no knitting, weaving, spinning etc, and no going out as well. and boy that is rough. So D.H. has had to do all of the cooking and some of the house work, and I must say he is doing a wonderful job. I have Bursitis in my shoulder and have been in a lot of pain for two weeks now and generally feeling unwell. Some good news is I have a new baby grandson no pictures as yet as I ain't allowed out, hopefully I will be able to see him on Saturday. On Sunday we are off on a weeks holiday to New Zealand, so I am looking forward to that!

As you can see I started my weaving it is quite relaxing and I am just going at it slowly! As I also need to spin and finish off some of my knitting W.I.P's. I did go to the Op shop yesterday and picked up some sheets for my Rag Rugs.So I have washed them and now I need to tear them into strips. Oh what fun!

New Books And Weaving Frame!

So seeing as it is my Birthday this Sunday and also Mother's Day I thought that I would treat myself to some new pattern books. There are two books on knitted Dishcloths and one on knitting a Pansy Tea Cozy and also Knitted Flowers. My D.H. has made me a frame for a Weaving loom it only cost under $15.00 it is 30' wide by 40'long so it is the perfect size, and I only need it to make rugs, so another new craft to learn I am so looking forward to that! not that I don't have anything else to do. I also ordered a book from Country Threads called Rugs from Rags, which should get here in a couple of weeks hopefully!

Dyed Roving!

Thought I would try and dye a small amount of Roving to see how it would turn out. I was pretty pleased with the results I used Queen Food Colouring. I soaked the roving in a vinegar bath first then poured the colours on, and then wrapped it in cling wrap and put it on the boil for 40min. Then rinsed in cold water till it rang clear the colours turned out really vibrant, So all I need to do now is spin it!

Socks for D.H.

Had made theses socks for D.H. but he complained that they were too tight around his toes and also too small so I gave them to my next door neighbour. I made them out of 8ply and 5ply yarn held together. It was a simple 2x2 rib and stockinette through out. I used size 3.75mm double point needles cast on 48 stitches and knitted them from the cuff down.

It took me the better part of this week to do it and I finally finished it today. I had a lot of fun doing it and also found the patterns for the flowers and leaves on various sites. I am also thinking of doing a Autumn Tea Cozy and have a few ideas in mind. But for now I need to practice some more spinning.

The posty beeped her car horn so I go flying out and there was this huge package its my Spinning Wheel. So I then opened it what joy, and my D.H varnished all of the wood for me to keep it nice. We then started to put it together it took about two plus hours and a bit of elbow grease and patience but we did it.

It was finally done all I need to do is practice using the wheel and on Saturday I will have my first spinning lesson. I found a lovely lady who doesn't live to far from me who is going to teach me, I am so excited cant wait to start spinning anyway the last photo is of my beauty in all of her glory!

And here is my Roving Wool that I ordered. It is ready for me to spin but wait no Spinning Wheel well hopefully I will get that next week the colours are just luscious in Grape Jelly, Magenta, Lilac, Purple, Honey @ Toffee. I ordered them from a company called petlins.com as well as my Spinning Wheel which is a Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel. Brights or Not!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally finished theses socks they are a lot brighter in colour than the picture, it's been raining all day so it came out dull! I used Panda 8ply in Crazy Print colour way. The socks are called Take Five Socks and were pretty easy to do the pattern was easy memorised. These unfortunately are for a friend who offered $500.00 for them as she saw me knitting them when we went down to see them at the weekend but being the sweet person that I am I said I would give them to her when I finished. So these will be posted down this week as soon as I can get to the Post Office. These would have been my cheer me up happy socks. Oh well I at least made someone happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a happier note I ordered a Spinning Wheel today so I am hoping to get it in the next week or so I have always wanted to try spinning wool so now I will get the chance. I am just sooooooooooo excited!

Knitted some dish cloths a while ago the purple one in front was a K.A.L and fun to make. I love using them as you can throw them in the washing machine and are great to wash up with! I use Peaches and Cream 100% Cotton its great and works up well whether you knit or crochet! So what do you use? I am trying a new knitting technique its called Entrelac and is quite a challenge but I am getting there, it's going to be a dishcloth as that is a easy project to start off with. Will show you when I am done!

Well I have no photo's of anything as the camera died, also last week was not the best I was feeling really down. As my daughter is having problems with her 13 year old daughter who has not attended school this year she keeps running away. So I am done dealing with this child for now I just cant do it any more. My other half has bought me a new camera just need to figure out how to use it!

Not Happy Mum!!!!!!!!!

I am so not a happy camper! Had to go to the vets to have some of my teeth pulled, and what do I get to eat!!!!!! boring chicken so I made mum hand feed me that will show her, and then I will stalk her for a while. Yep Typsy ain't at all too pleased with me ! I had to leave her at the vets the other day and she had to stay in overnight to get some teeth out. When I went to pick her up she wouldn't let anyone near the cage and even lashed out at me. But she sort of came round when she was in her carry box and then became quite vocal in the car on the way home!

Had to start on another pair of socks as we will be going
to New Zealand in May for a week, and I figure I will need
at least four pair or more of warm knitted socks. I will also
make hubby a pair as well, as he does suffer from cold feet.

These socks have an easy pattern for me to follow and they are a treat to knit. I also made myself some knit stitch markers the four on your left will be going to my mum and sister. I really like them as they dangle quite well and add a bit of an interest to the knitting!

Christmas Baubles!

When my grandson was younger than he is now he would spend time here at home and we would then do craft things together. I taught him to make these Christmas Baubles and he really enjoyed making them. Anyway he and his girlfriend wanted to make some more so I bought the makings and they had a wonderful time making these. They have more to make as they have some ideas that they want to try. These are made with foam balls sequins pins and beads. I think they did a grand job! I have been busy knitting baby hats and booties and have another pair of socks on my needles. So I will put some pictures of the finished items soon.

Finally finished the crocheted baby cocoon and the knitted socks these are for the grand baby I used a variegated yarn and I think it turned out okay. I am also knitting some baby hats as the babies are due in the winter.
I am going to be busy over the next few weeks getting ready for Christmas, and my grandson and his girlfriend are coming to stay for a bit. So I will be getting them to help do some housework, and tidying up! Oh the joy of grand kids!

Rainbow Babies!

Found this lovely knitted pattern for Rainbow Babies so I thought I can make this. Anyway didn't have the right size needles so off I went to the cheap store and bought a pair for $2.00 big mistake I ended up with a bruised thumb. So I ended up getting a decent pair what a difference that made, still have a bruised thumb but that will pass. I found this pattern on the web and it was designed by Jean Greenhowe, it's an easy pattern to follow even for a beginner like me. I used Autumn colours which seemed to have come up well, this is for my new grandbaby. Well I had better star loading the needles for a stuffed toy for my great grandchild.

Saw this lovely yarn and it knits up as a Fair Isle pattern so I bought 4 skeins of it and this is what happened when I got it home!

What another pair of socks you say of course that was what happened my needles are real busy. Aren't they lovely and bright! Any how I had better put some more stitches on my needles as I need to make more in a different colour of course!

Butterflies!

My eldest daughter loves butterflies so I was given this crochet pattern of a set of butterfly doilies. There are two small ones an a larger one. I am half way through the second smaller one and then I shall do the larger one. These two small one's are done in a variegated thread and the large one will be done in a plain colour.

My First Pair Of Socks!!!!!!!!

I did it I finished my first ever pair of socks and I am sooooooo thrilled they are comfortable and warm and I really enjoyed the challenge of knitting them. Well now I will start on the second pair and that will be Baby Socks for the new grand babies.

I have finished Crochet Baby Blanket for the great grandchild it was easy and quick patten to follow, I found it in one of Crochet Fantasy books. I used variegated and plain yarn and then finished it in a Turquoise yarn edging. Next project will be the Snuggle Cocoons.

These are my crocheted socks and I find that they are not as nice as the knitted ones. So these will be undone so I can then knit them.

Which brings me to the next picture of one finished knitted sock and the second one ready to be done. I found this wonderful tutorial on how to knit these socks and this is the results. Not perfect but it is a start and I really enjoyed doing them and they are really warm and comfortable to wear. I want to make longer ones next time!

Haven't done much tatting I have been trying to finish some W.I.P. nearly finished the baby blanket that I am doing for my granddaughter. I am planning on crocheting some Snuggle wraps as the babies will be born around the Winter. I also want to finish some crocheted socks and I am also learning how to knit socks as well I found a great website with a terrific tutorial on how to knit them and I must say! that I nearly have one sock finished. I have always said that I don't like knitting so go figure!!!!!!!!! I have a small tatted piece to show it is a Horse shoe that I found at Be-Stitched.com I did it in a Ecru cotton. It was a relatively easy pattern to follow. Anyway that's all for now I will show you a picture of the finished knitted sock when it's done. And the rest of the crocheted items that I have to get finished and that is quite a few, so it seems that the tatting will have to get done when I have the time, or when I need a break.

Went to bed last night and woke up to more guest flying about anyway here are my new guests!!!!!!!!!!!! These lovelies were made with the same thread that I used for the other one's Omega #39 Turquoise and 84 Purple. I got the pattern from Heather A.K.A. The Tarnished Tatter. Anyway must go as I need to finish off some Crochet Projects. The new baby's are due on the 31st May that will be my great grandchild and the other grandchild on the 7th June.

Thought that I would try Heather's Hummingbird and Flower Pattern, it's an easy pattern to follow I did mine in Lizbeth#20 104 Summer Fun and the flower in Med Pink 622. It is also a good way to finish off the last bit of threads on your shuttles as well and you could also add the Hummingbird in cards for friends and relatives.

Saw these cute dolls and bought three of them. They have different facial expressions this is one of them, they are called Ittsy Bittsy Babies. I am going to crochet outfits for them and then applique some tatting on the clothes, can you see the tatted motif? and also crochet a Bassinets that turns into a carry bag and give them to my grand daughters as gifts. So I will be busy crocheting also stared a baby afghan as well, will be post pictures as I go along so not a lot of tatting happening at the moment. My grand daughter has claimed my Alpaca Bear she says that I am looking after it for her as I will not give it up just yet!!!!!!!!

Saw this gorgeous tatted Pumpkin Teapot that Martha Ess had tatted and as I love anything to do with Pumpkins and Teapots and of course Autumn, I had to make this little beauty.
I used Lizbeth#20 100 Autumn Leaves my favourite colour and Altin Basak#50 334.

Seeing as a couple of people asked me about the Omega 100% Nylon thread I thought that I would give it a try I tatted up Wendy's Falaisie Road Dragon Fly in the Omega Nylon colour 77 V Festive. I then photographed it against the earlier one that I did in the Lizbeth, you can see the difference in size. It was not to bad to tat with a bit slippery but it holds it shape well. I would definitely tat with this again, only need to get a bigger shuttle. I just love the colours of some of the Omega thread they are really bright and cheery!!!!

First of all sorry about the stuff up of my previous post it was supposed to have been deleted! Now I also bought Omega #100% Nylon my question to you is, has anyone used this thread for tatting and what did you tat? as I was told by a shop assistant that it could be used and as you can see I bought about 8 cones.

While I was in the U.S I saw a tatted dragon fly that Umintsusu had designed, so while I was in the motel room one afternoon I decided to try it. I was quite surprised that it took me about an hour to do, and it was quite an easy pattern to follow, thank you Wendy for sharing a wonderful pattern. I used Lizbeth #20, 132 Tropical Punch.

Update on the Tatted Runner!

Okay first of all thank you all so much on your thoughts on the colour for the runner. I have decided on a solid
green as the variegated was not working out. There was too much Ecru which came out on the rings and I didn't think much of that. So the Lizbeth#20 is 684 Medium Leaf Green. So now I have to tat 74 of these motifs and then put it all together done two already.

Was looking in Tatted Fashion Book by Teiko Fujito for a Table Runner that I am thinking of Tatting for my Mum. She loves the colour green so I picked out the Lizbeth #20 144 Leaf Swirl for the rings and Ecru 603 for the chains for the Rectangular doily I picked out, it is on page 9 if you have the book. What do you think of the colour thread that I picked out? I have tried out the motif in a different colour to see how it would go, it is down there in the right hand corner. It was a quick and easy motif and one that can be done when I go out.

Seeing as a few people raved about this Tatted piece I thought that I would try it. I found it a treat to make and also easy. I used size #10 Lizbeth Thread 127 Butterfly Breeze. Well I had better get on as I have to undo some crochet socks that I started have found that I have less stitches that I thought I had, they must have gone into hiding on me.

Just a quick post to let you all know that we are home and that we have had a wonderful time in the U.S but I am so glad to be home. My ankles are really swollen and sore from the flight home, my cat wont leave me alone and I am ready for bed.

Just an update on our trip,we are in Gettysburg and really enjoying ourselves. Went to Chambersburg to Hobby Lobby and was able to get about 5 Lizbeth thread that I didn't have, but that was all.
Today we went to Harper's Ferry that was a really lovely place to visit, bought a couple of things there I will take a photo later of all of my goodies and blog about that later. After Harper's Ferry we went to Burnside's Bridge. So we had quite a full day D.H has just gone to drive around to Big Top or is it Little Top not sure which to see the sunset. Anyway that is it for the day I am going to relax for a bit now.

Well we are finally here in the U.S and loving it, went to Arlington House and walked around and found it very moving. Then the next day a 500 mile trip to Charleston, next day we went to Fort Sumter that was really terrific. Then we went to the Markets and did a bit of shopping well I did. Cant believe how hot it is here, my feet are aching and I am about ready to put my feet up. So everyone goodnight for now.
P.S.
I still have to find a shop that sells Tatting stuff, Joannes don't sell the Lizbeth so I am not a happy camper at the moment.

Angels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had to try this cute Angel it is called Joyce's Angel by Martha Ess. Didn't like doing the SCh but had a go anyway, it's not perfect but then all I need to do is practice, and practice some more. I used Lizbeth #20 132 Tropical Punch, but I found that there was quite a few joins in this particular ball, not very happy about that. I also used a metallic thread and that was a experience to work with so fine it was, but thank fully it didn't break. Two days to go before we are off to the U.S. so looking forward to it.

Here is the first part done with the Pineapples now I need to make another Hummingbird and do the second part. I don't think that this will be finished before I leave on Friday. Have to make sure the house is clean and then need to pack which by the way I will do on Thursday. Doily !

Thought that I would try crocheting this doily as I wanted to do something different it is not a hard pattern but just a bit fiddly. Anyway I have one more Hummingbird to make for the other side and then the Pineapples to join it together. I am using the Lizbeth#20 and it is crocheting up quite well.
I also have a couple of other nice Doily patterns that I want to do. The Doily pattern can be found on dotingondoilies.blogspot.com just scroll to the patterns in the side bar it is the one's called Doilies with Motifs.
This time next week Friday my hubby and I will be on the plane to America with an overnight stop over in Seoul Korea. Then flying into Washington for a couple of days and then we are going to Fort Sumter as David loves the Civil War thing also we are going to Gettysburg for a few days as well. I just love that place with its quaint shops and Antique shops as well. So the count down begins, I am also near to my 100th post, and there will be a giveaway.

Had to try Jeff's Star and it was a real treat to tat. Once again thank you Jeff for the wonderful pattern also it didn't take long to tat up. The instructions were easy to follow, only I must work on my tension etc, I used Lizbeth #20 Sea Green Dk. 688 and Tropical Punch, 132. Look at these goodies I received them from Aileen over at wickedtats.blogspot.com on a mystery project that she did back in May. Thank you so much Aileen I can't wait to try some of the Tatting Patterns from Lyn Morton's Book and I really needed those safety pins. Love the tatted butterfly on the paper clip the rings and the winders, and last but not least the plastic tubing, of which I have no idea what they are used for. Hope someone can tell me.
